Jonas Journal Entry

Why me? I'm just like all the other kids, immature, childish... My heart stopped when I heard my name skipped, I was so apprehensive, everybody was looking at me when I got on stage, I felt like I could cry in a room. But when the chief elder, said that it was one of the most IMPORTANT jobs in the community, I was perplexed. What does this mean?

Clio Advertising

Clio was very smart, when they chose this. It simply means when you're driving the first brake is always children. And that Mercedes-Benz has impeccable braking skills.

1. Symbolism - The word "Child" represents a child on the road, about to get run over by a car.
2. Body Language - This means the way the model is placed, but in this picture there is no model.
3. Camera Angle - They put the camera on the bottom so that it stands out better.
4. Special Effects - All of the words are not clear, but the word "child" is the only word you can see clearly.
5. Lighting & Color - The dull color represents that it is not pretty to drive without a brake.
6. Beauty & Social Standing - This means there is a beautiful/attractive model, there is no model in this ad.
7. Layout & Graphics - The graphics are very good in this ad, I love that it only bolds out the child word.

Lunch break was AWESOME!!!

Today was the best lunch break ever, it was so fun, radical, awesome etc. So, I guess you all want to know what we did. Well first of all we just sat at the tables, and ate lunch. Then Val, Kayleigh, Badiyah etc realized I had P.E shorts on. And as I recall yesterday Val had P.E shorts on, and I pansed her. It's so Weird pansed isn't in the dictionary, and when I just typed it there was a red line under it. If you don't know pansed is when you pull down a persons pants. The best person to pans is someone with loose pants, and someone who takes it as a joke not serious. Anyway back to my story, Val remembered that, and the she pansed me out of now where I have to admit it was VERY clever. Val kept on pansing me, until I realized one of my other friends, Badiyah also had P.E shorts on. So I pansed her, and then everyone started pansing her, it's like they forgot about. But Val didn't forget about me, in fact she pansed me AGAIN, again, again, again , again, again, again, again, again, again , again, again, again, again, again, again , again, again, again, again, again, again , again, again, again, again, again, again , again, again, again, again, again, again , again, again, gain, and again.

And then I remembered Ashley had a water bottle in class so I asked her for it, and she gave it to me. I splashed the water at everyone who pansed me or tried to pans me! Then I wanted to pans someone, but they were all wearing jeans. So then Michelle walked to me, and I wanted to pans her, but then the bell rang, and she went back to her class (she was in my class). So I ran to her, and I didn't even realize that I was running next to a door, so in no time the door sprang open, and hit me in my right arm. I half flipped and fell on my back. A few people were crowding me, mostly the ones in my class. It didn't really hurt. I know it seems like it hurt, but it didn't really. It just burned a little. There was nothing, no scratch, nothing.

LUNCH BREAK WAS AWESOME, AND I WILL NEVER EVER FORGET IT!!!

Mystery Story

In English we are writing a mystery story. It's very fun, because you can make up your own characters. And make it interesting. The only hard part is what are the clues, evidences, and the crime. My story is about 2 boys who got in a fight because one became too popular and wouldn't talk to the other boy. The 2 boys play on the same soccer team, and play the same position, but only 1 of them get to play. So someone takes the boys jersey who gets to play, and hides it somewhere. There's a twist in the story so I won't tell you anything more. I don't want to spoil it for you.

I think the hardest part of it is ending the story. I'm nearly half way done, and I don't really know how to finish the story. I know who committed the crime, and I have a motive. But it's really hard writing the last sentence. I read a lot of mystery books these days, but they're all killing, and murderers. In this class you're not allowed to have murderers, and I think that's OK. It's just really hard to relate stories if one is about killing, and the other is about stealing something from a rival.

Right now my story is 783 words long. And I'm only half way! Another hard thing to do is when people speak. You can't forget to indent, commas. It's also really hard using other words than said. May people only use said, and I think that's boring. I just can't think of anything else. These are the words I've used : said, bellowed, yelled, blurted, suggested, and that's all.

PLEASE, IF YOU HAVE OTHER WORDS OF SAYING SAID. PLEASE COMMENT!! URGENT!!

Monk

I think the villain ''Angeline'' was very sneaky. And it fits in perfectly with the case.... The only reason she sent the voodoo dolls to the other people was to throw the detective ''Mr.Monk'' off. She's a paramedic, and her uncle had a heart disease, so she knew exactly how to kill him without leaving any finger prints behind!!!! The reason she killed her uncle was because he had a lot of money, and she was the only relative he had.

Plastiki

When I heard this word I was perplexed, and you might also feel this way, but wait till you read this. Plastiki is a catamaran made from plastic bottles. Guess how many plastic bottles they used....... (Guess before you look)
********
They used 12,000 plastic bottles!!!! It took them 3 and a half years to complete this expedition, just in time for the "World Water Day". Which was on the 22nd of March. On Saturday they set sail for a 100 day venture from San Fransisco to Sydney, while crossing the Pacific Ocean. They call this a little voyage. The reason David de Rothschild (creator of the Plastiki) why they made Plastiki is to see the problem of plastic waste and how it can be reduced in new and healthy ways. You might think this is just a boat made of bottles, and that's it. Well it's not, the Plastiki is a very high tech boat!!!

Busy!!!

Today I straight after school I have basketball, and straight after basketball I have soccer. I'm already exhausted from P.E I had last block. And guess what, we had the pacer, push up, sit up tests. I got 66 on the pacer, I was upset because I didn't improve my score. The previous score I had gotten 71! Basketball is held in the Big gym for 1 hour , which means no A.C! Soccer is on Field 1 for 1 1/2 hours! I don't like Field 1, because when you slip on it you get a big scar, and the black rubber things get stuck in your skin, and it really hurts to take them out when your leg is infected! The good thing about Field 1 is that when it rains it won't become slippery.

To add to my busy schedule I come home at 8:00, and have to finish tons of homework. I have to write paragraphs about my house in math, study for the formative science test, finish my science worksheet, and finish a page of Spanish in my work book! Oh, and I almost forgot I have to write a draft letter for my Personal History Project. In the letter I am my grandparent, and I'm writing to a friend or relatives, about World War II. I chose this subject to zoom in, because there are many factors in World War II.

I am liking the Personal History Project, because you get to talk with your grandparent, or grand grand parents about their life, and how it was. The worst thing in my Grandma's life was World War II. She lost many friends, and I'm not sure if she lost any family in World War II, I don't really want to ask her that. Because it might be a little too personal!

BOrEd, BOrEd,BOrEd!

WOW!!! I'm so bored today.... I did all my homework I read I played basketball what more can I possibly do??? I checked on my favorite channels on T.V. and there was still nothing good on. I waited for something to pop in my head, but every time I looked at the watch the arrow only stayed on the same number.I wondered if I should help with cooking, but I figured I would just ruin the food. So I went out to play some soccer/basketball. What do I find out my brother keeps popping up every second! It's really annoying.

So I went on the Internet to find a list of things to do. What do I find out my laptop won't even turn on, because of it's dead battery. Now I'd have to charge for 4 hours to turn it on again; aren't I lucky? Have any of you ever had such a boring day like me? Or is it just me? Please say you've had boring days like these. Now I started a project. I was so concentrated that I was nearly finished with it, but I wasn't supposed to finish it since it was due in 2 weeks. What would I do in class now?

"Peak"

In English class we are reading a book called Peak. It is a fascinating book about hiking in the Himalayas. I like this book because for the winter break I went to Nepal. And this book took place in Nepal too. I made a lot of connections with the characters. Peak is the name of a main character in the book. I know, weird name, right. Anyway, Peak has divorced parents, and his dad is a climber " Joshua Wood". When Peak was separated from his dad, he had no where to climb. Except for the climbing walls in New York, that Peak thought were way too easy!!!

Peak is a mysterious guy, and likes to keep mystery's to himself. Peak is known for climbing 7 sky scrapers in New York, and putting a logo on them. "Mountains". When people found out what he was doing his mystery was ruined. He had to go to court, and had to pay a fine of 500,000 U.S. dollars! He was also band from New York! When Joshua heard this he ran down the mountain and flew to New York. He was currently climbing Mt.Everest.

Joshua hadn't shown up in years, Peak always sent him postcards, but never once came back a reply. And why did Joshua now rush down a mountain to see his son. Joshua had currently lived in Thailand, but does most of his treks in Nepal. When Joshua Wood came rushing down the mountain and saw his son in court he was depressed. But now Peak is climbing Mt.Everest with his father! If he makes it to the Summit before his 15Th birthday he'll be the youngest person to ever reach the Summit of Mt.Everest!

But the real mystery is if he will make it. Joshua has been a professional climber for years, but did his son have the same talent as his father? What if Peak doesn't make it to the Summit, he's already let down his parents once. He can't let them down with something his dad loves to do. Through this adventurous book Peak finds himself saying good by to the twins, leaving his mother/step father, melting yellow ice, and building up a tent by himself in the freezing cold weather!

I know how hard it is for Peak. My parents have had the experience, they reached Everest Base camp, but didn't go to the Summit. It takes A LOT of skill to climb the highest mountain above land, with all this pressure on you. The highest high I reached was 6,000 meters. And they reach 12,000 meters of height. Imagine how hard it is to breath in such conditions!!! I know I would have problems, would you???

Personal History Project

In 6th grade you do a bunch of projects for English. The one that has really inspired me was the "Bintaro Lama Project". But I think somethings going to top that. Today we started the Personal History Project. And on Tuesday I called my grandma, to ask her a few questions. We spoke for about 30 minutes. While the talk I was very interested, and kept on coming up with more questions! I didn't know that she had 4 siblings, was a cook for 7 years, and was born in Karlsruhe,Germany. My grandma was 6 years old when World War II started, it was a terrible memory for her, and everyone else. Many people died, and many people were parched from not getting any water!

Could you imagine waking up every time you heard an airplane, and going to the cellar? The airplanes would come at 2am in the morning or 11pm at night. They had to stay in the cellar till they heard no more airplanes, and that was a while. The people who weren't in the army suffered terribly. There were no shops open to buy things, since the French forced them to shut down their business. The worst memory for my grandma was when my Great Grandpa was shot 500 meters from the house. She thought that things couldn't get any worse!

After World War II the French came, and invaded Germany. Mean while things got better, the people got enough food, and the shops finally started to open things. My Grandma went to Karlsruhe, to find a job which she did, as a cook. She had many great memory's during the job. The first place she worked for 3 years(cook), and the second place she worked for 4 years(cook).
My Grandparents have been married for 50 years now, also know as "Golden Marriage". The best things that she would consider was when her children were still young, and her marriage!\

Family and Movie Time

Family time and Movie time!!!

I love family time. For me family time is hanging out with your family, and doing something together! It might be different for other people. What I did on the holiday was mostly hanging out with my family. Everyday for 5 days I hiked up mountains with my family. It might not seem like the talky family time, but we were doing something together! I really enjoyed it. You got to know ever more about the people that you love! We hiked everyday for 4-8 hours!!! It's exhausting, especially when you go steep upwards like everyday!!! The good thing is that I keep in shape, and improves my stamina, and you get to see a great view of the mountains. The sight is just marvelous!!! You wouldn't bare looking away!

Something else I did on the holiday was go to the movies. Out of all the movies that I watched "Avatar" was my favorite! The story was great, and the actors were outstanding! Avatar is the first movie to have animated characters, and real characters. Avatar made 1 million us dollars in 7 days! It cost 400 million us dollars to produce Avatar. But I guess the money's worth the success! Avatar was the number 1 movie on the us movie charts! Incredible! The reason I liked Avatar the best, was because the story is very cool! And it's not so violent. Avatar's technology in the film was based on the future. I find it amazing how they can make so many new gadgets when they haven't even been sold yet! Doesn't that ever wonder you, why there are so many cooler things in the movies than you have?

Today we went on a bike tour, we went to the Devi Falls. The Devi falls is an under ground water fall. Right now you'll probably think how we saw it, am I right??? We went into a cave which led to the water fall. So that's how we saw it! After that our parents went to a mountain museum. And we stayed in the hotel room reading/resting. After that we went to buy some shoes, because they were cheaper there. Happy new year everyone!!!

Coca-Cola Soccer Team

15, December 2009

The coca-cola soccer team is a very advanced soccer team. It is split up into the A and the B team. The A team being better. 2 weeks ago they had try outs from 5:30-7:00 pm, every Wednesday. Trust me it's pretty exhausting. The coaches who decided the teams were Mr.Schwartz, Mr.Beech, Mr.Gareth, Mr.Lee, and Mr.Trapp. (My dad). This is the u-12 squad meaning that I was one of the oldest, which was good, because usually I'm one of the youngest and it's hard to make the A squad. Remember this is a league where schools compete. So basically the players are representing their school!

The coca-cola league is a great way to meet friends, and have fun although it's very competitive! First of all there is a league. And then there's a cup. In the league you can't get disqualified if you lose! Although the main point is to win, and score more goals. The cup is where the score doesn't matter. You just have to win the match. If you win you move on. If you lose you are disqualified! Sometimes the matches can be unfair, because sometimes they put a B team against an A team. Unfair, right?

Anyway the cup is sponsored by Greenfields milk, and the league is sponsored by coca-cola which works with Powerade. A drink soccer players need to boost up their soccer game! I've been in the coca-cola team lots of times already, and I'm hoping that this year it's going to be more exciting than all of my years that I've participated in. League games are usually played on Saturday, and cup games are usually always played on Sunday. I have no idea why they are played on separate days.

I have to say I'm very impressed with the teams this year, because the A, and B squads are really fascinating. I wonder if during the games they still have chocolate milk samples for greenfields. I have to admit they are pretty good! The referee's are really good, but sometimes they get too overwhelmed about the fouls. There are many people who wanted to be on the soccer team but of course there were cuts. I wish we could have as many people join, and make as many squads that we needed. I find it peculiar that some schools have more squads than the other schools.
